About

Katharine King, RP (she/her)
Registered Psychotherapist, Toronto

I am a Registered Psychotherapist based in Toronto, with 15 years of clinical experience. I completed my training at the Toronto Institute for Relational Psychotherapy and maintain a full-time private practice. My work is grounded in relational, trauma-informed, and psychodynamic principles, with a strong focus on the therapeutic relationship.

I am honoured to have spent thousands of hours working with clients from all walks of life — including artists and creatives, executives, newcomers, recent graduates, couples, parents, people who are grieving, and those courageously navigating life transitions.

Alongside my formal training, I also volunteered for many years on a crisis line in Toronto, which deepened my compassion and skill in supporting people during moments of acute distress.

Before becoming a therapist, I held roles in teaching and community-based research, working on projects that encompassed the well-being of street-involved youth, immigrant employment, and marginalized seniors. These research studies, conducted in collaboration with the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health, Dalhousie University, and York University, gave me an interdisciplinary lens that I bring to my clinical work today.

I remain dedicated to ongoing professional development, peer consultation, and contributing to the psychotherapy profession in Ontario – and strive to bring passion, curiosity, and commitment to my work with every client.
